The President of Bugaria is elected using the supplementary vote system, which is conducted as follows: Voters vote for their first-choice and second-choice candidates (though a second choice is optional). The two candidates with the most first-choice votes go through to a second stage, whilst the others are eliminated. The second-choice votes for these two from the ballot papers of the eliminated candidates are added to their first-choice votes, and the candidate with the greater total is elected President.
